Job Description:

Basic Purpose-

Lead and support Transportation teams in driving optimal performance in all areas of Transportation including safety, quality, and production.

Description-

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the regional transportation teams to meet company P&L targets and support/develop other transportation or supply chain initiatives across the company;

  • Identifies key opportunities to leverage and improve logistical efficiencies across the supply-chain operation, including; defining appropriate metrics, and leading the implementation of transportation strategies and routing analytics;

  • Serves as a subject matter expert in driver delivery work methods and transportation efficiency techniques;

  • Develops forward-thinking, transportation initiatives to boost effectiveness within supply-chain, implementing and managing project work to improve driver performance through Transportation Management System(TMS) and labor planning tools;

  • Defines, develops, and manages policies and procedures, process flows and tools to boost the effectiveness of operations within customer delivery transportation, resulting in greater efficiencies across all regions and markets;

  • Leads transportation managers/supervisors on effective communication to improve driver performance in safety, quality, and productivity;

  • Streamlines the reporting and analysis of customer delivery data through core competencies and tools/methods to identify opportunities, create forecast models, and measure metrics across target areas;

  • Interfaces across cross-functional teams to establish and boost alignment and synergy, gaining buy-in from stakeholders and leading the implementation of initiatives within the transportation function at the market;

  • Develops and presents strategic initiatives across US Foods. Thinks globally and acts locally;

  • Implements new and modifies existing engineered labor standards for transportation;

  • Performs process simulations before deploying new labors standards to

  • assess impact on labor productivity and applicable incentive programs.

Qualifications-

Education/Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, industrial engineering or similar experience required;

  • Graduate degree preferred.

Related Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in transportation management experience required, with a focus on implementation and strategy development, industrial engineering and project management experience preferred;

  • Experience working within a distribution environment highly valued.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Word;

  • Experience utilizing a Transportation Management System (TMS, Manhattan, JDA) preferred;

  • Experience performing data analytics with statistics using Excel and/or Tableau required;

  • Prior experience utilizing customer routing packages (i.e. Roadnet, Descartes ,) and optimization tools (i.e. Llamasoft, Supply Chain Guru and Territory Planner) preferred.
