US Foods Sr Analyst Technical Engineering in Rosemont, Illinois

The primary purpose of the Sr. Analyst, Technical Engineering is to contribute to the strategy, design, implementation, and administration of a large, complex Redhat Linux systems environments in both private (VMware) and public(AWS) clouds. Goal is to ensure high levels of stability, performance, availability, and security. This individual also participates in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure infrastructure provisioning and maintenance that is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
Provide domain expertise for the design, planning, configuration, implementation, and testing of system and cloud infrastructure
Provide technical support and problem resolution
Provide technical support documentation, automation, processes and procedures to support problem resolution
Apply standard concepts, best practices, and procedures within a particular domain specialty
Document system infrastructure configurations, mappings, and processes
Maintenance and administration of system and cloud infrastructure
Develop and maintain automation for provisioning and self-services infrastructure platforms
Collaborates with project managers, IT domains, and support teams abiding by cultural beliefs to work together effectively and efficiently in an agile environment
Identifies and implements opportunities to reduce problems and optimize support
Monitor, test, and tune system performance
Perform and test system configurations, backups and restores to ensure system recovery from error or outage
Design and implement system security policy and configurations
Qualifications:
Education/Training:
Bachelor degree required, preferably BS, IS, or CIS
Certifications preferred LPI, MCSE, AWS, VCAP, CCNA, SCSA
Related Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required
4+ years’ experience in IT field area specialty – Redhat Linux Administration
Experience with AWS and Kubernetes preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to quickly learn new processes, and absorb and retain information
Good interpersonal and oral communication skills
Experience working with Redhat and Amazon Linux required
Experience with virtualization (VMware /vSphere) and containerization ( Kubernetes )
Experience with AWS infrastructure and administration
Experience coding and scripting with Shell, Ruby, or Perl
Experience with Automation software (Chef, Rightscale/Flexera, Cloudformations)
Experience with Redhat Linux OS upgrades preferred
Solid SAN, storage, and system backup knowledge
Solid network knowledge (OSI layers, TCP/IP)
Database knowledge Oracle, MySQL, RDS
HP-UX experience – Nice to have
Familiar with EC2 Console
Familiar with Linux Patching in AWS.
