US Foods Solution Architect, Core Solutions in Rosemont, Illinois

The Solution Architect, Core Solutions Architecture is a key role in the Development Organization and is responsible for promoting and driving our business initiatives. This position provides technical and team leadership supporting cross platform supply chain applications focusing on vendor management, procurement, demand planning and forecasting; applies technical knowledge and experience to design solutions and provides technical guidance to the user community and teammates.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborates with project managers, business analysts, solution architects, enterprise architects, developers, and QA testers in an agile environment

  • Defines high level architecture and estimates effort for projects during the startup phase

  • Escalation SME for critical support issues

  • Researches, identifies, and coordinates root cause resolutions to complex issues within their domain area

  • Provides strategic direction including evaluation, selection and implementation of emerging tools and technologies

  • Creates/updates domain system documentation to be shared with Business and IT

  • Incorporates best practices and designs patterns/principles into all aspects of projects and applications

Education/Training:

  • B.S. in Computer Science, IT, a related field, or equivalent work experience required

Related Experience:

  • 7+ years of working experience with IBM mainframe (zOS) applications and tools – CICS, Librarian, COBOL, JCL, VSAM etc.

  • Prior experience with architecture planning tools and methodologies

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience delivering increasingly complex cross-platform solutions using middleware like TIBCO, APIs and/or Web Services

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in general IT with 3 or more years’ experience working as technical lead

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Proven ability to analyze and understand existing processes and code

  • Works and communicates effectively with all levels of management

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills

  • Must be a team player

  • Knowledge and/or experience in client server applications will be a plus

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Productivity Tools

  • Knowledge of Architecture Modeling Tools like Lucidchart

Proficiency in:

  • IBM mainframe (zOS) utilities and tools

  • IBM COBOL and JCL

  • Datacom and IDEAL

  • Knowledge and/or experience in DB2 will be a plus
