Basic Purpose-

Description-

The Manager Decision Sciences (Insights & Analytics) is responsible for predictive and advanced analytics (methodologies, testing, scaling) for a specific function (e.g., Merchandising, Supply Chain, Sales), leveraging business context from the Business Analysts and Manager, Advanced Analytics Programs in the Insights and Analytics organization. Final methodology decisions and statistical approach will reside with this position. Will work with a pool of Decision and Data Scientists for data prep, model development, and deployment. Will leverage their practical application experience to facilitate process and technology design/redesign to ensure successful adoption. Will leverage their in-depth knowledge of mathematical and statistical modeling techniques and innovative /quantitative analytical approaches to develop ‘test-and-learn’ approaches that align with the business’s larger objectives, facilitate the drawing of conclusions, and make actionable recommendations that answer business objectives. Will also implement best practices around research, analytics and measurement. Key to the success of the Manager Decision Sciences role is the ability to extract, manipulate, and synthesize data (e.g., attributes, transactions, behaviors, etc.), segmentation models, and other relevant information to draw conclusions and make recommendations resulting in implementable strategies.

Analytics and Solution Development:

  • Serves a primary methodologist for the function that they support and leads research and development opportunities, including testing strategies
  • Continuously improve and enhance models and predictive assets to ensure an ongoing business value capture within the function that they support
  • Serve as content domain experts to ensure practical application of the models/advanced analytics
  • Leverages business/analytical knowledge to facilitate discussions with cross-functional teams to understand and collaborate on business objectives and influence solution strategies
  • Applies innovative and scientific/quantitative analytical approaches to draw conclusions and make actionable recommendations that answer business objectives and responsible for ensuring that multiple techniques are explored to deliver the optimal result
  • Responsible for using an Agile process to ensure timely delivery of statistical work and seamless integration into enabling technology
  • Identifies the relevant and quality data sources required to fully answer and address the problem for the recommended strategy through testing or exploratory data analysis
  • Oversees the integration and manipulation disparate data sources and determines the appropriate data hygiene techniques to apply
  • Ensures thorough documentation of assumptions, methodology, validation, and testing
  • Understands and adopts emerging technology that can affect the application of scientific methodologies and/or quantitative analytical approaches to problem resolutions
  • Leads to development of analysis/findings that conveys understanding, garners support for recommendations, drives business decisions, and influences business strategy

  • Identify and develop analytics to support and measure strategies for business partners
  • Influence and evangelize analytical methodologies to support business partners’ needs
  • Identify opportunities to standardize processes through analytics and tools
  • Support integration of strategies, analytics, processes, and tools
  • Develop and refine core best practices to enhance the influence of Insights & Analytics across the organization
  • Serve as SME on customer data, segmentations, and data assets

Travel

Available for occasional travel as business requires (less than 5% of time)

Qualifications-

Education / Training:

  • Graduate degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, or related quantitative field required

Related Experience:

  • 5 years of demonstrated successful experience in statistical or data science roles
  • 5 years of demonstrated successful statistical modeling experience in food distribution, retail, CPG, or related industries with large datasets and transactional data
  • Strong statistical background with hands-on and leadership experience in:

  • Generalized linear modeling techniques (e.g., linear regression, logistic regression)

  • Time series analysis
  • Mixed modeling
  • Clustering
  • Factor analysis
  • Decision tree (e.g., CHAID and CART)
  • Survival analysis
  • Design of experiments
  • Leveraging extremely large data sets, preferably in a cloud-based environment
  • Integrating and manipulating data from multiple sources
