US Foods Logistics Optimization Manager in Rosemont, Illinois

The Logistics Optimization Manager is responsible for the development and maximization of regional inbound logistics freight income to meet company Annual Operating Plan (AOP) targets and support other logistics/supply chain initiatives across the company. The Logistics Optimization Manager will manage a team of Load Planners and oversee the relationship with our internal Field customers and our Carrier partners. Oversee the conversion of vendor delivered freight to US Foods managed loads to drive case and revenue growth. Oversee the blueprinting process and validate that they meet the needs of Logistics income along with days inventory on hand. Manage the daily negative load report along with proactively mitigating future negative loads before they are planned. Act as the escalation point to approve expedited loads and the cost associated with an expedited load. Hold the Load Planners accountable for Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and act as a backup for the Planner position.

Manage the Load Planners for a Region, holding the Load Planner accountable to exceed the KPIs along with Logistics AOP targets.

Oversee the load planning process to validate we are using primary, secondary and other partner carriers. Track the spot market usage and validate that we are exhausting all options before planning a negative load.

Oversee the relationship between the Load Planner and our internal Area customers, reviewing the Area KPI and AOP results. Facilitating calls with our internal customers as needed to discuss performance and actions.

Oversee the relationship between the Load Planner and our Carrier partners. Validate that we are holding Carriers accountable and operating as partners. Facilitate business review meetings and performance meeting as needed.

Oversee and supply input to the Logistics Strategy team on the freight conversion process to move vendor delivered loads to Logistics Managed. Execute the set up to logistics managed once a decision is made.

Review the logistics blueprints and adjust so that we are balancing logistics income with days inventory on hand.

Act as an escalation point to approve the cost of expediting loads along with daily review of negative loads. Manage the mitigation of future negative loads with the Load Planners.

Qualifications

Education/Training: High School or GED required, Bachelors degree preferred.

Related Experience: Minimum 7 years of purchasing, and/or related work in transportation field required. Prior experience working in a large fast paced foodservice purchasing and/or logistics environment strongly desired.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Must have excellent organizational and analytical skills, demonstrate a keen attention to detail, be able to communicate across cross-functional teams and be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel). Experience in tactical project management and in depth knowledge of logistics conversion function required. Must be able to manage successful relationships with the operating divisions.
