The Culture & Engagement Intern assists the team in designing methods to collect and analyze employee feedback and identify insights. They will leverage insights to inform design of processes to strengthen employee engagement.


About the US Foods Summer Intern Program


The US Foods Summer Internship Program provides a forum for students to apply classroom skills and academic training in a real world business environment. In addition to being assigned business-impacting projects throughout the summer, students will be matched with a manager who will meet with them on a regular basis to provide direction on assignments as well as deliver performance feedback and a mentor who will be available to offer day-to-day guidance and support.

Interns will also get exposure to US Foods executive leadership; have an opportunity to participate in learning and social events with other interns across business functions within our Corporate HQ; and have an opportunity to deliver an end of summer presentation to showcase their accomplishments with key business leaders. Dependent upon critical business needs and overall performance during the summer, there may be opportunities for students to continue working as a part-time intern during the school year.

Hours: Full time (40 hours per week) during the summer (10-12 weeks); possible future part-time opportunities (16-24 hours per week) during the school year, dependent upon current critical business needs and overall performance.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Supports design and administration of annual employee survey and other surveys
  • Monitors engagement data and other feedback mechanisms used to assess employee experience
  • Assists stakeholders in defining metrics used to measure effectiveness of programs
  • Identifies, aggregates, and cleans critical data points from multiple sources to prep for analysis
  • Analyzes data to identify key drivers of engagement and inform design of enterprise-wide interventions to drive a higher level of engagement and further embed the US Foods culture
  • Assists in creating and delivering targeted trainings to HR and managers across the organization.


  • Assists in administration of programs formative to employee experience such as day 1 onboarding and employee resource groups.
  • Supports initiatives to ensure that HR processes and procedures integrate our culture values and key elements as appropriate i.e. performance cycle, merit, promotions, assessments and employee development initiatives.
  • Supports the development of long-term strategies and key initiatives to promote and achieve a culture of service excellence and employee engagement.

Basic Requirements:

  • Education/Training - Bachelor’s degree required. Strong preference given to candidates between their first 1stand 2nd year of a Master’s degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology or related field.

Additional Requirements:

  • Prefer minimum of 1-year relevant work experience
  • Strong research, data analysis, oral & written communication, and interpersonal skills are critical
  • Experience managing large data sets in Excel and using intermediate functions (vlookup, sumifs, concatenate etc.) is critical
  • Experience creating or running reports in Workday is a plus
  • Must have regular, reliable method of transportation to commute to US Foods’ location
