US Foods Business Architect in Rosemont, Illinois

The Business Architect will lead the roadmap design and execution for retail systems. In partnership with the business stakeholders, and the Business Relationship Managers, the Business Architect defines future roadmap, and business requirements for IT initiatives that best meets business needs. The Business Architect translates business requirements to to-be business processes as well as to-be IT design requirements and maintains the Business backlog. The Business Architect drives the Buy vs Build decision making, alongside the Business Relationship Manager. The Business Architect presents roadmaps, strategic decisions, gap analysis and other analytical work products to IT and Business leadership to influence and support decision making.

We are seeking an individual with experience in retail technology like POS, labelling, scanning systems or overall ERP systems and technology to define retail technology strategy in partnership with business stakeholders and the Business Relationship Manager. The Business Architect assists with the relationship between the Retail Corporate team, Retail Store Operations, Enterprise Accounting and Finance team, Change Management Team, Director of Store Deployment, internal IT PMO, development, engineering, networking, quality assurance, and support IT teams and third-party vendors. Works with business and software vendors identifying improvements to software, understanding integration between USF and vendor software, and if issues arise, researching for a solution in partnership with technical teams and vendor. Provides oversight to PMs and Business Analysts in the team on business architecture and business analysis approach for project execution. Provides mentorship to Business Analysts on the team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitates meetings with Business executives, IT leadership and vendor representatives on various topics.

  • Builds and presents technology roadmaps, technology selection decisions, conceptual future state strategy, Gap Analysis, Business Processes, System flows, Business Requirements or Features/Epics

  • Facilitates discussions and aligns project and program roadmaps with technology leaders and teams for cross-functional projects between retail and broadline

  • Leads and Contributes to ideation on best breed or best value solution options analysis and decisions

  • Facilitates workshops to document As Is and To Be work process flows or provides oversight to Business Analysts as they conduct and deliver the same.

  • Advises Business on technology decisions and negotiates priority discussions

  • Negotiates defect versus enhancement discussion with Business and/or software vendor as a result of testing;

  • Prepares business process documentation, including work flows, RACI charts, and procedures;

  • Works with business owners and vendors to identify improvements to software applications, and recommends business process changes and/or technology enhancements

  • Translates strategic intent to specific deliverables in own area;

  • Develops expertise in retail technology vendor packages and/or software suites. Microsoft suite preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Training:

  • Bachelor's degree required

Related Experience:

  • 5 years of general Business Analyst experience required;

  • 2 years of project management experience preferred;;

  • 2 years of product management experience preferred

  • Retail Systems experience preferred;

  • Experience working in a Management Consulting firm a plus;

  • Retail POS, Retail ERP, Retail inventory management, Retail receiving systems, Retail financial systems, PIM, Retail loyalty systems, Retail Promotions system, Customer master, retail CRM or other retail systems experience a plus.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills required;

  • Excellent presentation preparation and delivery skills required

  • Visio or Lucid Chart and diagramming experience required;

  • Business Process Modeling and Re-engineering experience is preferred

  • Prior Product Management experience with external vendor packages preferred;

  • Business Process Modeling and Business Process reengineering experience is nice to have.

Minimal travel will be required, but with ability to travel for up to 4-5 days at a time, to document processes, with little advanced notice (less than 10% per year).
