The Senior Configuration Management Analyst will be responsible for establishing and maintaining the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system for Metra. PLM systems facilitate configuration, change, release, and program management, collaboration, work flows, and quality compliance. The cloud-hosted PLM system will be used to facilitate configuration, change, and release management as part of FRA regulations and Positive Train Control (PTC). The Senior Configuration Management Analyst will be working with Metra Engineering, the PLM vendor, and others to setup, support, and manage the PLM system.

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a “STEM” field OR in lieu of specified degree, any combination of education and experience in Engineering or Information Technology (IT) disciplines performing systems or IT work may be substituted for the required degree that equals four (4) years.

  • In additional to #1, must have any combination of experience that equals seven (7) years in systems management that includes installation, setup, and maintenance of automated configuration management systems.

  • Considerable knowledge of configuration management tools, concepts, and principles.

  • Considerable knowledge of configuration planning and control.

  • Knowledge of contract requirements, specifications, and deliverables associated with configuration management process.

  • Considerable skill in applying configuration management techniques to a wide range of configuration controlled items.

  • Considerable analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills.

  • Intermediate skill using Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Good verbal and written communications.

  • Good interpersonal skills.

  • Skill documenting configuration changes.

  • Ability to keep abreast of new technology.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to work independently and as a a team with subcontractors, engineers, and technical staff.

  • Must possess and maintain a current valid driver's license.

  • Must be willing to travel within Metra’s 6-county region.


  • Experience with GE RailDOCs, IBM Maximo, and PLM tools such as Bentley ProjectWise and AssetWise, ARAS PLM Platform, or PSA CMPRO is preferred.
