The Practice Management Consultant (PMC) for Merrill Lynch Wealth Management (MLWM) assists in the development and implementation of strategies and tactics to increase the capacity and growth of Financial Advisory Practices. The PMC works with Financial Advisors (FAs) and Advisory Leadership to help strengthen Client Acquisition, Advisor Census, and the Client Experience. The PMC engages in activities such as coaching, research, content development, and program execution to facilitate effective team building and performance improvement. The PMC promotes diversity and best practices across the Advisory organization, and ultimately serves as an extension of Advisory Leadership.
Coaching FAs and FA teams to improve performance, and ultimately the client experience, through better business plans, role definitions, functional processes, etc.
Equipping Advisory Leadership with best practices for growing business and increasing capacity
Ensuring responsible team formation and facilitating team building events for FAs
Partnering with members of the Leadership Development team and FA Learning Team, as well as other internal specialists, to deliver firm strategies
Contributing to projects and programs, as well as execution plans related to PMCG goals
Traveling (approximately 50-60% of the time) within a regional territory for ongoing field coverage, as well as nationally for engagement in key programs or events
Operating in self-directed manner as a member of a nationally dispersed, virtually based team
Key Skills and Experience Required:
Advanced skills in and a passion for coaching
Strong communication and listening skills
Great team player
Strategic and tactical capabilities
Adept at building relationships at all levels
Ability to perform root cause analysis and recommend appropriate solutions/interventions
Results-driven and able to succeed in a challenging, fast paced, changing environment
Good understanding of FA practices and the FA environment
Three or more years of experience as a management, business, or organizational consultant/coach
Three or more years of experience in the Financial Services Industry
MBA or an Advanced degree in counseling or organizational psychology preferred
Credential in a Coaching Certification program also preferred (i.e. a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) thru the International Coaching Federation (ICF))
Act as a performance consultant for Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management assisting Financial Advisor Practices and Advisory Branch Managers and Market Leadership teams in developing and executing strategies and tactics to increase the productivity of Financial Advisors and their respective teams, and ultimately enhancing the client experience. Assist in building truly effective teams which have a tremendously positive influence on the performance of the organization, and can be a critical driver of shareholder value. In addition to field-based coaching and Director support (Coach-the-coaches), the PMC will engage in research, content development, and program execution related to organization design and best practices. Also has Management responsibility.
