Bank of America L&LD Consultant II - Merrill Lynch in Chicago, Illinois
The Global Wealth & Investment Management (GWIM) Learning & Leadership Development (L&LD) team is seeking an L&LD Consultant II to help support Merrill Lynch. The role is an internal leadership, learning and organization development consultant to clients who will collaborate with business and HR Leaders to develop business-specific leadership and organizational effectiveness solutions. This role is a critical position with responsibility for ensuring achievement of key business outcomes through the utilization of impactful and proven leadership, learning and organization development services. Applicants must have experience working in large, complex, global organizations; ideally in the financial industry.
Global Wealth & Investment Management (GWIM) provides comprehensive wealth management to affluent and high-net-worth clients. It also provides retirement and benefit plan services, philanthropic solutions and asset management to individuals and institutions.
Merrill Lynch provides a high-touch client experience through a network of approximately 15,000 client-facing financial advisors to our affluent customers with a personal wealth profile of at least $250,000 of investable assets.
This candidate must be an influential and results-oriented consultant who can develop and manage relationships across the company and with a wide variety of partners based on trust, teamwork and subject matter expertise. The candidate will partner with business leaders to drive performance with key focus on Organization Design/Effectiveness, Leadership Development, Talent Management, Performance Management and Learning Strategy. This role must be located in Charlotte, North Carolina or Chicago.
Key responsibilities include:
Partner with business and HR leaders to guide organizational assessment and design/development. Ensure optimal alignment between the business’ strategies, future state operating model and the organizational capabilities required to deliver on them
Partner with business and HR leaders to deliver Talent Plans and Talent Management Strategies that ensure strong succession and a bench of talented future leaders. Lead Talent Planning process execution and integration with business including diversity strategy development. Support integration with other divisions
Design and support the execution of the leadership agenda (i.e., management processes, communication strategy) and support executives in building/developing strong teams
Provide Executive Coaching to key leaders in the line of business
Lead design and implementation of key leadership and HR initiatives (e.g. 360 feedback, performance management, competency development, career planning process)
Work closely with learning specialists and designers to drive overall talent, management and development strategy and help leaders to prioritize initiatives. Implement key leadership development processes and programs
Build strong relationships to partner effectively with a variety of constituents (compensation, staffing and other) in building integrated people processes
Identify, develop and lead the implementation of multiple projects in a fast-paced, challenging environment with competing priorities
Some travel may be required

Consults, designs and delivers learning, leadership development, talent management and organizational design/effectiveness solutions. Identifies L&LD opportunities, strategies and solutions that are linked to organizational and business goals with a focus on diversity and inclusion. Establishes and maintains partnerships with Business Leaders, L&LD colleagues, GHR, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and vendors to identify and drive results. Manages stakeholder relationships. Individual contributor role.
Key skills/experiences sought for the role include :
Bachelor's Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred in relevant areas (e.g., Organization Development, Organization Behavior, I/O Psychology, etc.)
7+ years of Leadership Development experience; OD/OE or relevant HR experience
Ability to navigate in a highly complex, matrixed organization and operate effectively in an often ambiguous environment
Relationship management skills including the ability to communicate, influence and coach at the senior leader level
Ability to translate strategy into specific goals, tactics and deliverables
Must have strong project management skills, technology proficiency, systems thinking and high quality orientation
Performance consulting skills including the ability to identify performance gaps by asking the right questions
Ability to demonstrate strategic thinking, facilitation, client service orientation, leadership, influence, teamwork and collaboration
Familiarity with learning strategy and solutions
Applicants MUST have experience working in large, complex, global organizations, preferably in the financial industry
