This position can be based out of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Plymouth, MN, Dalton, GA or Chicago, IL

This position provides standardized technical direction and leadership for Cargill BioIndustrial and our cross-BU Corporate Categories. Aspects of direction include standardized technical development and training relating to: raw material receiving, storage, handling and specification; manufacturing and processing design, operation and maintenance; process recovery and efficiency enhancements; environmental, health and safety program refinement, process safety and execution. The position is also responsible for leading and supporting new process and product development and deployment; and identification/execution of new product line opportunities. Establishment and leadership of an Industrial Specialties Process Development Group model is a key aspect of this position. This position will collaborate extensively and provide leadership for Industrial Specialties activities globally. This position will also be accountable for establishing and managing use of Cargill’s PDP and Build Template tools and processes to execute BU projects. The person in this role will report to the Americas Operations Lead and will work closely with (and take direction from) the Global Process Development and Engineering Leader / CBI Manufacturing Technology Leader

25% Provide technical/project management support for strategic business unit development and growth activities.

20% Partner with Technology team to scale-up new products and processes into existing plants, new plants and 3rd party partners.

15% Develop and Gather detailed knowledge pertaining to an area of expertise.

10% Provide technical support as manufacturing lead for discovery, qualification and ongoing support of 3rd party partners.

10% Identify, share and institutionalize best practices and process design by understanding, documenting and deploying them globally and across the enterprise.

10% Develop standard for employee training and development relating to the center of expertise.

10% Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

Experience

  • 6 years of operations management, process development, engineering and/or R&D experience

  • 3 years of project management experience

  • Proven experience executing capital projects.

  • Experience with capital projects over $2,000,000

  • Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM).

  • Understanding of chemical conversion processes, for example hydrogenation, esterification.

  • Demonstrated experience with “pilot to commercial” scale-up processes

Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to develop in-depth technical understanding of complex operational and business activities and implement those concepts across broad geographies

  • Demonstrated ability to direct and lead people, with diverse backgrounds, to accomplish business objectives.

  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial skills in the areas of customer focus, innovation, and achieving business results.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of process development, new product implementation.

Preferred Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (chemical, petroleum)

Experience

  • 10 years of operations management, process development, engineering and/or R&D experience

  • Oleochemical and/or specialty chemical operations management or engineering experience.

  • Proven experience executing capital projects with budgets >$10MM.

  • Experience leading Project Delivery Process teams.

  • Previous experience with batch process operation

  • Experience with identifying toll producers and developing production contracts.

Skills

  • Prior experience with continuous improvement activities and methodologies (i.e. Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis, etc…)
