Bank of America GIS Policy Governance Manager in Chicago, Illinois

Job Description:

This position will be a member of the Global Information Security (GIS) Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) organization, and specifically in the GIS Governance & Policy Control Governance team. This role collaborates with GIS Policy, GIS control owners, subject matter experts, business stakeholders, Legal, Risk & Compliance, and other GIS accountable parties in the course of GIS Governance & Policy work. Responsible for coordinating projects, initiatives and actions to support the GIS Governance & Policy ecosystem. Must be able to meet demands associated with managing multiple projects in a global environment.

You will be using your analytical mindset and teamwork skills to support and improve the GIS Governance and Policy ecosystem. You will utilize your technical and business knowledge to support secure, risk-based practices, exercising judgment within broadly defined practices and policies.

We look for you to be result-oriented, business focused, and successful at interfacing across multiple organizational units, at various levels. The knowledge/experience/exposure with information security topics, including the design, development, testing, implementation or governance of information security practices and solutions, will be very helpful in this role. You should be prepared to demonstrate your knowledge of access management/risk identification and mitigation/project management skills.

Specific Function Description

This is a manager position responsible for the GIS Control Governance program. The team works with various GIS teams and other Governance and Policy functions to ensure the GIS controls are aligned appropriately to GIS policies and priority scoring for adherence is accurate to ensure governance and oversight.

Key responsibilities of the team are: maintaining the GIS Control inventory; aligning assessment subparts (i.e. questions) to GIS policies and maintaining those alignments; assessing regulatory requirements against GIS policy, controls and assessment proof points to ensure health of GIS Policy. Drive action plans to address any gaps and ensure accurate risk and compliance reporting. This team is essential for enabling the GIS control owners to manage the portfolio of GIS controls by understanding policy and regulatory expectations, and the control decomposition of subparts which feeds into supporting GIS programs such as quality assurance, metrics, reporting and maintaining process documentation.

The team works with various GIS assessment programs and other Governance and Policy functions to ensure the GIS assessments are aligned appropriately to GIS policies and are adhering to the governance rules. Key responsibilities of the team are: maintaining the GIS assessment inventory; aligning assessment subparts (i.e. questions) to GIS policies and maintaining those alignments; assessing regulatory requirements against GIS policy, controls and assessment proof points to ensure health of GIS Policy. Drive action plans to address any gaps and ensure accurate risk and compliance reporting.

Required Skills:

•Previous experience in Information Technology / Information Security

•A working knowledge of control, compliance, and risk frameworks.

•An understanding of the regulatory environment within which the Bank operates is strongly preferred.

•Strong project management, time management, communication, and analytics skills.

•Able to work independently with minimal supervision.

•Strong technical writing skills.

•Must be comfortable in delivering messages across a wide spectrum of individuals having varying degrees of technical understanding

•Must have strong leadership skills and qualities which enable you to work with peers and various levels of management

•Executive presentation and communication skills

•Excellent influencing and problem-resolution skills

•Motivated and willing to learn.

•Quick learner and self-starter

•Strong analytical skills/problem solving/conceptual thinking.

•Microsoft Office Proficient (Excel, Word, Outlook, Visio, PowerPoint, etc.)

•Strong risk management acumen.

Desired Skills:

•5 years of experience operating within an information security environment.

•Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field

•Prior Governance, Compliance, and or Audit experience desired.

•Prior experience with laws/rules/regulation mapping to policy, controls adherence models.

•Familiarity with independent audit, assessment, QA/QC functions desired.

•Leadership competency in geographically diverse matrixed environment.

•Experience with Project Management or working with Project Managers

•Bank or financial institution experience

•Ability to work with Technical and Non-Technical stakeholders

•Audit experience a plus
