Human Resources is staffed by 30 employees. Under supervision, provide professional entry level development training programs. Participate in assessing training needs, designing, developing, and facilitating various training programs. Identify and develop entry-level courses, determine course needs and appropriate delivery methods, and assess and enhance the quality of training programs. Apply solid instructional design skills, effective learning principles, and creativity to course design in order to engage participants in the learning process. Assist in defining client requirements, building client relationships, and working with clients to ensure materials meet project requirements. Assist in identifying, developing, and delivering innovative and creative training materials and methodologies, and maintaining documentation. Perform other related duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Candidates can expect salary offers that range from the minimum to the mid-point of the salary range. Metra provides full pay ranges so candidate can consider their growth potential. Metra is a railroad employer subject to the provisions of the Railroad Retirement Tax Act, not the Social Security Administration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Adult Education, Instructional Design, Human Resources, or Industrial Organization Psychology OR in lieu of specified degree, any combination of education and experience may be substituted for the required degree that equals four (4) years in adult education or curriculum design.

  • In addition to #1, must have two (2) years of experience designing and/or delivering training and development programs.

  • Good knowledge of adult learning theories.

  • Good knowledge of how to facilitate using a variety of teaching techniques.

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.

  • Good knowledge of current instructional theories and principles applicable to both hard copy and web-based instructional materials.

  • Knowledge of information architecture principles and methods.

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly in English.

  • Good interpersonal skills to creatively engage and motivate learners.

  • Ability to listen and analyze information.

  • Ability to interpret client needs.

  • Ability to produce instructional materials and program collateral.

Preferences:

  • Experience with on-line course development is preferred.

  • Knowledge of multi-media design tools is preferred.
