Johnson Controls Digital Marketing Specialist in Chicago, Illinois

What you will do:

The Digital Marketing Specialist is responsible for executing and maintaining effective and successful digital marketing programs to support Traffic and Retail organizational objectives. Major areas of accountability include developing and implementing email marketing, landing pages and lead generation programs. Additionally, the digital marketing Specialist is responsible managing and publishing web content. The Digital Marketing Specialist will utilize Salesforce, Pardot and other marketing automation systems to ensure a smooth customer journey from initial contact to sale and beyond. In this metrics driven role, the Digital Marketing Specialist will maximize program return-on-investment by managing to measurable performance benchmarks and KPIs. The Digital Marketing Specialist will report to the Manager of Digital Marketing in Chicago.

How you will do it:

Email Marketing Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with digital lead generation, marketing communications, product marketing, regional marketing and business partners to execute email marketing plans and campaigns

  • Provide hands-on program campaign implementation in marketing automation – identify business rules, data fields, personalization requirements, calls-to-action/links, etc

  • Ensure quality standards are met – manage pre-deployment test sends, ensure email content is valuable, relevant, informative, and meets targets’ needs, ensure compliance with email requirements for global footprints, coordinate approvals across a number of business partners and global locations

  • Work with external agencies to develop effective email campaigns and templates grounded in brand standards and email best practices

  • Propose and execute tests that drive business growth

  • Modify and customize email templates with marketing automation for quick-hit programs

  • Customize emails campaigns for various business purposes and products to target groups on a timely basis

  • Participate in the creation of process documentation for marketing automation use cases and digital roadmap

  • Identify, select and manage optimal outbound email delivery system

  • Track and report on email marketing KPIs per expectations

    Website Responsibilities

  • Create and publish landing pages in WordPress

  • Lead the creation of new web content, coordinate approvals and publish

  • Recommend site optimization tests and techniques

  • Troubleshoot site issues, from rendering of pages to high load times

  • Execute on-page SEO

  • Analyze site analytics to identify opportunities for site enhancements, new content, A/B testing

    Additional Lead Generation Responsibilities

  • Support the lead generation efforts by executing digital marketing tactics that generate new leads, nurture existing leads, create upselling opportunities and increase brand awareness

  • Assist the Manager in building data-driven user personas and aligning with appropriate drip campaigns

  • Execute segmented CRM data to increase 1:1 marketing efforts

  • Measure and report performance of all digital marketing efforts, and assess against goals (ROI and KPIs)

  • Compile metrics from a variety of business systems including Pardot, Salesforce, Google Analytics

  • Support marketing and sales teams with ad-hoc reporting requests

  • Support the selection and adoption of new platforms such as an outbound email delivery system

    What we look for:

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in digital marketing, marketing, communications, business or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum of 3-6 years’ experience and a demonstrated track record of accomplishment in digital marketing.

  • Experience with Pardot, Eloqua, and/or other marketing automation systems

  • Well versed in WordPress

  • Familiarity with Google Analytics and metrics reporting

  • Ability to effectively communicate in English (written, oral and presentations)

  • Effective organizational skills with track record of completing projects on time and on budget

  • Ability to work effectively in a high growth, dynamic environment

  • Ability to navigate a matrix-managed and geographically dispersed organization

  • Ability to synthesize input from multiple teams and individuals

  • Action oriented self-starter with commitment to delivering with excellence

  • Ability to work independently, set priorities, work on multiple projects simultaneously, solve problems, and be resourceful under pressure

  • Willingness to “roll up the sleeves” and do what it takes to get the job done

  • Experience with Paid Search Marketing and Google Adwords a plus

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in retail industry and/or technology

  • Comfort navigating a matrix-based organizational structure

  • Familiarity with web optimization and management

  • HTML programming skills a plus

  • Google Analytics and/or Google AdWords certified

    Additional Skills

  • Well versed in leveraging data in marketing automation for personalization and creation of behavioral workflows

  • Ability to define processes and paths to project completion with limited documentation

  • Thrive in entrepreneurial environments and comfort working in evolving organizations
