The Contract Administrator II, will provide support to the Contracts Department related to railroad operating agreements. Research, analyze and draft written reports related to railroad operating agreements. Ensure the compliance of various operating agreements (Trackage Rights, Purchase of Service Agreements (PSA), Joint Facility Agreements, etc.). Coordinate the financial participation of other railroads for the installation, operation and maintenance of Positive Train Control (PTC) on Metra corridors. Collaborate with the Law department on new agreements or revisions to existing operating agreements. Meet with departments and outside companies to develop, administer, draft and determine contract/agreement terms. Prepare amendments, addendum and other contract modifications. Provide necessary documents for Board meetings. Serve as a resource to other staff and departments regarding contractual terms. Performs other related duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree preferably in Business, Public Administration, or related field.

  • In addition to #1, must have three (3) years of experience in two (2) of the following: railroad administration, invoicing, or business writing, preferably related to agreements, contracts, and/or compliance.

  • Must pass the Railroad Worker exam within six (6) months of hire.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, problem solving, math, and analytical skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in the resolution of contract issues.


  • Ability to read right-of-way maps and construction plans preferred.

  • Experience in the development and administration of different types of contracts and agreements preferred.
