Interns will also get exposure to US Foods executive leadership; have an opportunity to participate in learning and social events with other interns across business functions within our Corporate HQ; and have an opportunity to deliver an end-of-summer presentation to showcase their accomplishments with key business leaders. 

US Foods internships arefull-timepaid positions(40 hours per week from May - August) with the possibility of transitioning to a full-time position post-graduation dependent on availability and overall performance.

The Category Management Internship Program aims to provide interns with hands on experience managing all aspects of a category, including assortment, pricing, promotions,vendor and cross-functional relationships,and new product introductions.  They will work closely with their Category Manager to develop and execute strategies aimed at growing their category and meeting company goals, while learning about the overall Food Service and Distribution business.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist inproviding detailed analysis and insights into assigned category with respects toproduct assortment, pricing, promotions, new product introductions,consumer behavior, industry trendsetc.
  • Generate, maintain and help improve existingcategory managementreportingto track and identify category performance against established metrics.
  • Actively participate and contributein thecommercialization ofnew products,including meeting with suppliers, development of business cases,MarketingPOSdevelopment, contract negotiations, production planning and sales deployment.
  • Collaborateand build working relationshipswith othercross-functional stakeholders from Category Management,Marketing, Sales,Logistics, Finance,Pricing and Operations.Please note: we are not able to provide internships to students that require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B visa status).

Local candidates are encouraged to apply. For qualified students whose permanent home of record is located outside 50 miles from US Foods Corporate HQ, a stipend will be offered to partially offset housing costs for the summer.

Qualifications-

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s DegreeinBusiness, Marketing,Statisticsor related field
  • Must be enrolled in schoolduring time of internship
  • Typically, students currently between their Junior and Senior years or between their 1st and 2nd years of graduate school will be consideredforinternships
  • Strong analytical abilities with a high attention to detail and willingness to discover the root cause
  • Positive, energetic attitude
  • Strong written, visual and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, matrix environment
  • Must have experience and working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications – Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, OneNote,etc.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have regular, reliable method of transportation to commute to US Foods’ location

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Previous experience in foodservice,retailor CPGenvironment preferred
  • Experience working with Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP
